Last updated: 6 August 2026. This page explains what happens when you visit The Leiden Connection — what little we collect ourselves, and what the outside services used on this site collect on their own.

Who runs this site

The Leiden Connection (mayflower.radicae.nl) is run by Radicae. If you have a question about this notice or about your data, contact info@radicae.nl.

What we collect directly

This site has no user accounts, no comment section and no newsletter sign-up. The search and filter tools on the homepage run entirely in your own browser and send nothing back to us. We do not run our own visitor analytics on this site.

Cookies and embedded tools

A few features on this site are provided by outside services. When you use them, that service — not us — sets a cookie or similar technology on your device:

The family poll. The "Which family are you connected to?" poll on the homepage is provided by Crowdsignal. It may set a cookie to stop the same visitor voting more than once. See Crowdsignal's privacy policy.

Research links. Some pages link out to Ancestry and MyHeritage so you can continue your own research. Where these are marked as affiliate links, clicking through may set a cookie on the advertiser's or their network's (Rakuten Advertising) site, so that a small commission can be credited to this site if you go on to take out a subscription there. This only happens if you click the link — nothing is set by simply visiting this site. See Ancestry's privacy statement and MyHeritage's privacy policy.

Embedded map. Some place pages embed a map from OpenStreetMap. Loading the map may connect to openstreetmap.org.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. Since this site itself collects almost nothing about you directly, most such requests should go to the outside service in question (linked above). For anything about this site itself, contact info@radicae.nl.

Changes

This notice may be updated from time to time as the site changes — for example if new research links or features are added. The date at the top will always show the latest version.
