Editorial note: the abstract above states that Elizabeth Keble’s heirs sold the house to Isaack Marcusz Bavelaer in 1638. The transcription’s 1638 entry, however, only records a yearly redemption-rent (“losrente”) of 18 guilders 15 stuivers placed on the property “om Isaack Marcuszoon Bavelaer” — it does not use a word for sale. The transaction may have been a mortgage or rent-charge rather than an outright sale. The translation below follows the transcription as supplied by Erfgoed Leiden.

Zevenhuizen. Jan Thoniszoon, linen weaver, Dwarsheerenstraat, north side.

12 May 1595: Sold by the widow of Jan Thoniszoon, over and above the city's [prior] claim, to Thomas van Ondemarcken, for 680 guilders, to be paid: 150 guilders in cash and 100 guilders yearly at Candlemas.

21 March 1612: Sold by Thomas van Ondermarck to Henrick Coleth, encumbered with a ground-rent of 3 guilders owed to the burgomasters of the city of Leiden, for etcetera.

28 March 1619: Sold by Henrick Coleth to Jan Kebel, wool comber, encumbered with the aforesaid ground-rent of 3 guilders per year, for etcetera. The ground-rent was redeemed to the treasurer in the year 1653, on 25 June 1653.

13 September 1638: [held by] Elisabeth Kebel, widow of the late Jan Kebel, and associates, jointly heirs of the aforesaid Jan Kebel, specifically encumbered with a redeemable annuity of 18 guilders 15 stivers per year, falling due on the 13th of September, [owed to / concerning] Isaack Marcuszoon Bavelaer.

Translation by Radicae, The Leiden Connection, from the Dutch transcription supplied by Erfgoed Leiden. This is a terse property register (kaartboek) record. The final entry (13 September 1638) is elliptical in the source — unlike the earlier entries it lacks an explicit verb of sale ("vercoft aen"), so the exact nature of the transaction involving Isaack Marcuszoon Bavelaer is not fully spelled out in the transcription as supplied.
