On the 29th of February 1612, the bailiff (schout) and aldermen, upon the written request of Niclaes Steven and Henric Baelde, Pineas Eduwaert, Robbrecht Hanebou, Adriaen de Pla, Jaecques Ouseel, Michiel Gerard, Franchoys des Oursijns, Caerel Blanckaert, Gerson van den Cappelle, Andries Billeth, Henric Chergeans, Pieter and Willem Enten, and Franchoys van Strafele, consented that they, at their own cost and risk, may take into arrest and safekeeping the person and goods of Laurens Baerten, dealer in rolls and blankets (rollen- ende deeckentrapier), their debtor, for so long and until such time as he, Baerten, shall have given them sufficient surety for the settling of his arrears.
